Silent. Light weight. Comfortable.
Normally, even an experienced touring biker looks forward to the end of his journey when he can take off his helmet. Normally? Normality has never been SHOEI's philosophy. The introduction of a new SHOEI helmet on the market always implies: a few more innovations in the world.
Specialized since 1959 in the field of motorcycle helmets, the Japanese were the first to use carbon fibre in 1976 and introduced the first ventilated helmet in 1984. The QWEST also doesn't fulfill normal standards. With the QWEST, SHOEI brings a new generation of touring helmets onto the market. This premium full-face helmet is the logical development of a successful touring helmet tradition taking the needs of touring in all aspect into consideration: light weight, comfortable fit and a minimal noise level.
■ 60% more silent that its predecessor
Noise level is a very important factor when touring. Shoei's acoustic engineers have surpassed themselves, an amazing 2.2 decibels less than the previous model. In other words: it is actually 60% more silent! As this effect has been obtained only by aerodynamic optimization there is plenty of space inside the helmet for a communication system or grooves for glasses - or just for the bikers acute sense of hearing.
SHOEI built a completely new, state of the art wind tunnel in order to realize an optimal shell shape and to develop innovative contours in many hours of testing. The complicated lines offer optimal aerodynamics which makes the QWEST stable in steady and the air flow and allow a reduction of the noise level caused by wind to a surprising minimum.
■ Optimal fit for a clear head
Whereas the RAID series had only three, SHOEI has treated the QWEST to four shell sizes to make seven helmet sizes from XXS to XXL possible. The result: an optimal fit for every head size. The helmet sits evenly and without any pressure points but nevertheless comfortably on the head. You can take out the cheek pads for washing. The inner padding is soft and friendly to the skin.
It is specially important that head and neck do not feel tired during long rides. The QWEST's low weight of 1400 gr and the spoiler integrated into the shell eases the strain on the riders neck and ensures long lasting fitness. The feeling of lightness even after many hours nearly lets you forget that you are wearing a helmet.
■ Cool by experience - a helmet that breathes
The clever ventilation system also leads to this impression. The inventor of the ventilated motorcycle helmet has been searching for a perfect ventilation system since more than 20 years. They have reached the next level with the QWEST by repositioning the top and lower air intakes and making them bigger. Both rear ventilation holes are also new: the warm used air is not just let out but sucked out by low pressure.
■ Perfect inside so that you can enjoy the outside
Of course one thing must not be forgotten: the world outside the helmet. SHOEI has developed the CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system for automatic sealing and guaranteed easy handling. An extra wide field of sight: a plus in safety and specially panorama friendly for touring bikers.
